Golf

Golf has been played over the course for over 120 years. The course may appear innocuous from the clubhouse, but don't be fooled. Rising up and down three times from Chingford Plains into and out of Epping Forest, the course will provide a varied and interesting challenge of your skills. To preserve the natural appearance of the landscape, bunkers are only to be found away from the passing public gaze, on the upper holes in the forest.

One of the main reasons golfers join a club is to obtain a recognised handicap and play in competitions against fellow golfers. At REFGC we do not disappoint and actively encourage participation by players of all handicaps.

A competition is arranged for most weekends over the year, extending over Saturday and Sunday, and the Seniors Section on a Wednesday. In the summer months there are the singles, foursomes and mixed foursomes knockout competitions as well as mixed events sponsored by both the Mens and Ladies sections.

Interclub competitions organised by Essex Golf Union and NAPGC are also popular with a chance to play other courses in the region while representing the club.

The club also organises 'away days' in the Spring and Summer normally within a 100 mile radius of Chingford together with friendly matches against local clubs.
